Pageant & Performance

On Friday I was invited to accompany the Queen of our school to participate in a Pageant. Now, being from New Jersey, I don't even know how to spell "pageant" (I thought it was pagent-- thank you little red squiggly line) let alone actually seeing one in action. Basically it was an educational beauty/creativity pageant to win "Senorita Maestra Majestosa", or Miss Majestic Teacher. Our representative from Hope of Bastion School went as "Creation". You never knew flannel graph could be converted into a beauty pageant gown, did ya?! Well, the ocean was her skirt, the land was her top, a cape portrayed birds and animals, and a sunset-landscape scene was painted onto her stomach! 7 of us accompanied Carolina to the show and cheered her on as she waltzed down the runway. Unfortunately, she didn't make it into the finalists; she was beaten by an elaborate condor costume

The next performance for the day was with the band. Yesenia, Linder, Alfredo, Erika and Jefferson were ready for their big performance at the Alborada Conference. Although our pre-arranged ride didn't show up last minute, and we had to scramble to find a taxi, we got there on time, warmed up and were ready to go. The kids did a great job playing "Kumbaya", and people were very impressed that Jefferson's arms could strech so far on the Trombone (don't be fooled by the picture. The one with the Sax is Jefferson who really plays the trombone).
Tonight marks the last night in a 12 lesson Bible study that I've been doing with these girls in the picture below. Janina, Mayi & Kenia. We're planning on continuing with something different, and I'm hoping to get a 2 for 1 on my seminary work and use the material on them.
Oh yeah-- I started seminary. It's all day Saturdays and it looks like it's going to be challenging but good!

On a sad note, my friend Willian just had a tragic death in his family. Please pray.
