English Class at Hope of Bastion

English Class at Hope of Bastion School with Jessie Bauman

I miss teaching English classes this year! I'm only doing 3 periods of English Club, which is more creative and interest-driven than an academic classroom setting. Jessie did a great job at teaching present tense "to be" and contractions today.

This picture captures everything about a classroom: students paying attention and eager to learn, a girl flopped over in boredom, brothers in the back trying to be invisible, a girl poking herself with a push-pin (promptly getting it stuck in her thumb and asking me to pull it out of her flesh), kids who understand and kids who don't. Jessie's very dedicated to these students and we hope that these kids are learning how to serve the Lord, how to think critically, how to be respectful, how to add a period to the end of a sentence...

and how to speak English!
