He has shown you, oh man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you: to walk justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

Pre-Tsunami Update

You've probably all heard about the 8.9 earthquake that hit off the coast of Japan this morning. That has prompted a Tsunami warning for many countries, including Ecuador. For those of you who don't know, I live about an hour and a half from the coast, so I am not personally in danger of huge waves, yet my co-workers Dale and Janet Horst and our Camp facility are on the Pacific coast. Kids' Camp is scheduled to begin on Monday, with about 100 kids already signed up. Ecuador's President Correa has declared a state of emergency and has mandated that everyone evacuate the coastal areas. Our camp caretakers have already left, leaving our camp facilities very vulnerable to crime. The Tsunami's are predicted to hit this evening, so we'll know more by tomorrow; however, I ask you to please be praying for us and camp. Even if nothing happens, parents are going to be very nervous sending their children to the beach for a week, and, at this point, we're not sure what's going to happen.

Please pray for:
  1. Physical safety for people and homes
  2. The camp facilities not to get robbed
  3. Wisdom for camp directors and staff in knowing what do do this week
  4. That God's power, love, and mercy will be clearly evident
Thanks for praying!

(Other than a looming tsunami, life back in Ecuador has been good. I was home for a wonderful month in February, and now I've jumped right into camp prep since I've been back. We also had a 4 day retreat to the mountains during the holiday of "Carnival", which is basically, a country-wide water fight. You step outside, you get drenched. You drive with your window open, you get drenched... and drenched with WATER if you're LUCKY. Some of my friends got egged!)

I'll try to write more soon :)
