He has shown you, oh man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you: to walk justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

China and a Good Weekend

“What happened to your face?”

“Un machete.”

Not the answer you expect a 10 year old to give you.

On Friday we went to Nino Jesus China! Yes, if you’ve been following the blogs, this is where we’re going to give out the gift bags to the students. We didn’t give them out yet, due to many different kinds of complications (broken down cars, dishonest mechanics,

inconvenient supermarkets, unhelpful managers…) but we WILL bring them. I told the principal of the school about the bags and she was so grateful. She said, “I know there are other schools that are just as poor as we are, but thank you for thinking of us.” That’s just an example of how amazing this woman is, and what a joy it is to be able to do something for her school.

As she was talking with us, she showed us how the school is responsible for teaching morals to the students that they don’t learn at home. We saw a girl that was separated from her grade because she was being punished for stealing. She stole an apple. L So sad.

I LOVE going to that school. The kids all ran to hug me, practically unable to wait until I got out of the car. Then the “hug” grew so big that I lost all balance and practically fell on top of 20 kids. I’m excited to go back and give out the bags!

Saturday, I went to Asuncion with 3 of my German friends. And, let me tell you. German friends are good to have. They like to eat and they like to eat well! First things first. It was HOOOOOT and we were hungry. Obvious remedy being ice cream of course. I directed us to a ice cream place that I’d been to last year with my friend from Switzerland (see post from last October). It was a serve yourself place, and instead of choosing the little personal ice cream cups, my friends each chose the take-ice-cream-home-for-your-families container, and we each filled it with incredibly yummy ice cream and toppings. While we consumed our bounty, we returned outside to a concert in the park. Then we walked over to a German bakery and had us some delicious bread. What a great afternoon.

Oh but it doesn’t end there. I dropped the Germans off at their bus, and then I walked to Eduardo’s house for the red. We’ve just began a new study on God’s will and we had INTENSE discussions. They were awesome: included lots of yelling and flailing arms. Just the way I like it.

I can’t believe I only have about a month left here in Paraguay. I plan to enjoy every moment of it, and this weekend, I did exactly that.

One month as in "one month and then you'll take a little break, then go back" or "one month and then you are done in Paraguay for good"?

So cool Erin! Have tons of fun and when you come home let's go for ice cream together -- you have me craving it now!
